Insight Parable #10 - The Illusion of Death (I Am)

According to scientific evidence, the Earth has endured 25 mass-extinctions over the last 500 million years. While the Cretaceous-Paleogene event of 65 Ma (million years ago) that wiped out all non-avian dinosaurs is the most well-known, it’s not the most severe on record. That dubious distinction goes to the Permian-Triassic extinction event (sometimes called the ‘Great Dying’) 190 million years earlier (depicted here), in which nearly 85% of all life - land, air, and water combined - went extinct. Death and destruction, whether personal or planet wide, is as common in our universe as the proliferation of matter. And yet, despite these unavoidable truths - that all things on the physical plane must eventually revert back to the non-physical - something remains long after these temporary forms have seemingly vanished into thin air . . . some inextinguishable ‘flicker’ of energy that exists beyond the petty confines of space, time, and the limits of our human intellect; the unsolvable mystery of consciousness itself.
